If you haven’t met the Juice Girls yet, it might be time to do so. Meryl Zises and Lily Rogath from New York are hitting the London scene, and bringing their cold pressed juices from their company Imbibery London with them.
Realizing there was a gap in the British market for their business, the girls set out to create cold pressed juices that would line the supermarket and health-food store shelves. After six months of testing sessions in the kitchen, the girls came up with their final recipes.
These recipes include Cacao Mylk (made up of cashew, cacao, coconut oil, vanilla, date, sea salt), Phyto –(made up of spinach, cucumber, celery, parsley, lemon, lime) and Hot Shot, among others (made up of ginger, lemon, cayenne pepper and water).
Their prices are hefty, but followers don’t seem to mind. They cost £3.50 for a shot and up to £14 for a 500ml juice. As much as two to three kilos of raw fruit and veg are used in a 500ml bottle, depending on the juice.
They also offer the ever-trendy cleansing options, where people drink only juice and water for 1-3 days. Their cleanse runs £85 a day.
Meryl says that people aren’t put off by their prices. As she explains, “People definitely realise they get what they pay for and the second they taste our juice, they realise it’s special. We haven’t received pushback because of our pricing. Imbibery’s produce is the best and we don’t do anything to cut corners and in that way we are a luxury good.”
